Shoshana Vegh [Israel]
True legend (and other three poems)
Not an orphan
Just an abandoned beautiful girl
Even before she was born
Father left
And mother at an insane hospital
And how the Oedipus complex will not grow
Coiled like a snake
And father father father
Every man is a father
And how did the audience like it
At the silver screen
Worshiping everything that the body transmits
But the soul is not always
Visible on the face
A beautiful girl has been lost for years
Inside her are the lost
Voices of her father
And the body that gets pampered
More and more
And here it seems to be love
And there almost she gave birth
And mother mother mother
In the world like a passing shadow
Always looking for peace
Plays between
The little girl Norma Jeane
And Marilyn Monroe is growing
She is the doll that all addicted
But the soul is not always
Visible on the face
Life
How fast it goes
the touch of your body
The landscape picture is there
You laying like sign of the cross
And I'm in the field of clouds
Hoisted to the top
To places that become
to be our home
White lily
and white sheets
And I don't want to let you go
And you followed me
And I'm after you
In ancient alleys
pass like a shadow
and this happiness
Hugging my dream
And I want more
that you return to our meeting place
I want to return to this one
A single time
that we were
integrity
The rain, the snow, the sun
My hair on the pillow
sky balcony
Sunrise and sunset
two days
I hunted life
And you
The Queen of England
Her majesty could have been
the Queen of Israel
but the last British soldier
left the Holy Land
when the British Mandate ended
a few years before they crowned Elizabeth –
she never had any time
between all the state ceremonies
to visit the Holy Land.
But when Israelis went shopping in London
they bought some symbols of royalty
simply missed having the manners of a queen
they wanted her to be theirs too
but the Queen did not visit –
the Land of Israel was
an unresolved matter
simply a boycott.
Legend has it that queens
hover over soldiers' graves
so now she must be visiting
the victorious dead of the First World War
buried on Mount Scopus in the Holy Land.
Dad’s Cigarette Smoke Whisper
My dad's not talking anymore
He whispers words in another language
Only the caregiver understands him
I listen to the rising smoke
From the cigarette he sucks with his lips
My dad's not talking anymore
He wrote the story of his life
He is now resting in the TV couch
The screen flickers in front of his eyes
My dad’s not talking anymore
He blows smoke rings
And crushed in cigarette butts
To the ashtray in the whispers of his life.
My dad's not talking anymore
He changed the words
In small whispers
And cigarettes keep him alive.
